Meteopathy and high blood pressure

All people react to changes in the weather – some lack energy, while others suffer from migraines and high blood pressure. Such people are called meteopaths, and the manifestations of weather dependence are called meteopathy, or meteorological sensitivity.

Meteopathy can occur not only in adults but also in children. Symptoms can be caused by poor circulation and oxygen deficiency in the brain. Most often, women and the elderly, as well as people with chronic diseases suffer from meteopathy. A mild degree of meteopathy is manifested by a subjective illness.

Chronic disease is often accompanied by moderate and severe meteopathy, which requires medication. Weather changes provoke excessive spasm or, conversely, relaxation of vascular walls. Blood pressure either rises or falls with a sharp deterioration in health and an increase in the manifestations of chronic disease. To reduce the manifestation of meteopathy in hypertension, follow these recommendations:

  • Take regular medicines (such as Amlopres-10 or Arrow-Lisinopril) as prescribed by your doctor. In 70% of cases, strokes, heart attacks and hypertensive crises occur on days when the weather changes.
  • Move more and walk in the fresh air. Choose the type of exercise you like. Moderate physical activity trains the cardiovascular system, increases the oxygen content in the blood, relieves psycho-emotional stress.
  • Avoid overcooling and overheating.
  • Eat healthy foods. Do not overeat, limit salt intake. It is important to drink enough clean water. Supplement your food with multivitamin complexes. On inclement weather, prefer dairy foods. Also, whole grains, fresh and stewed vegetables, fruits (except citrus), greens and dairy products are useful.
  • Give up alcohol and smoking.
  • Avoid stress, do not get tired. Don’t go to bed late. Getting enough sleep is important because sleep deprivation can cause changes in blood pressure. Get more rest on bad days.
  • Control your blood pressure. For headaches, insomnia, perform a set of breathing exercises and massage your hands.
  • For joint and muscle pain, take a warm half-hour bath with aromatic oils.
  • If the weather affects your digestive system and your appetite decreases, avoid hard-to-digest foods.

It is also important how we perceive the fact that the state of our health depends on the weather, because peace of mind is also the key to solving the problem. If you know that the weather will change soon, allow yourself to calmly relax. Don’t force yourself to work.

Remember that the body’s response to weather changes is a temporary condition that appears and disappears. Thus, the main thing is to learn to live with it and minimize all the negative consequences of weather sensitivity.
