What is Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) used for?

Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) is a topical medication used to treat conditions such as vitiligo which cause uneven skin pigmentation. The medication operates by permanently removing pigmentation from the areas of application to make the appearance of the skin color more even. It should be noted that this medication is not cosmetic bleach and is only meant to be used to treat permanent skin discoloration. Your physician may also prescribe it to treat other unlisted conditions.

How should I use Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP)?

Strictly follow your physician's instructions while using Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. The medication is normally applied two to three times each day, but your individual directions will be determined by your current health condition and the severity of your symptoms. Thoroughly rinse and dry the application site to remove any dirt or loose skin. Always use protective gloves to prevent the cream from discoloring your palms. Put a thin layer of medication onto the normally colored area surrounding the discolored area and gently massage it into the skin. Wash your hands with soap and water after each use to prevent it from contacting any areas not being treated or touching any mucous membranes as this may cause serious health complications. Ask your pharmacist or physician any questions you have about using the medication to ensure the correct administration.

What are the side effects of Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP)?

The use of Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) may cause side effects in some patients such as:

  • Dry or flaking skin
  • Mild skin irritation
  • Itchiness or burning sensations

Stop using the cream and contact your physician immediately if you experience any intense or worrying symptoms including severe burning sensations, intense swelling, or skin rashes. These conditions may require lower doses, reduced frequency of administration, or emergency medical attention in more serious cases.

Please Note

Do not apply Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP) to skin that is broken or severely damaged. This medication should not be used by patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who do not have vitiligo. Never use this cream as a cosmetic treatment to lighten the skin or remove blemishes.

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Albaquin Cream (Monobenzone USP). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.

As this medication may be unsafe for certain patients, it is essential you always inform your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as if you have any allergies, other illnesses, or ongoing health conditions, and if you are taking any other form of medication, supplements, or herbal products.

Immediately seek emergency medical care if you have an allergic or hypersensitive reaction. Common signs of a reaction include hives, swelling, skin rashes, chest pains, as well as trouble breathing or swallowing.
