What is Melgain Lotion (Decapeptide) used for?

Melgain Lotion (Decapeptide) is a topical medication prescribed to treat patients suffering from vitiligo. The medication operates by reducing skin pigmentation at the area of application to blend light areas of skin with darker areas surrounding it to reduce patchy skin appearance. Note that this medication is only meant for the treatment of vitiligo and should not be used for cosmetic purposes such as skin whitening, removal of moles, or other blemishes. Your physician may recommend this medication for the treatment of other unlisted conditions, as well.

How should I use Melgain Lotion (Decapeptide)?

Melgain Lotion (Decapeptide) should be used strictly according to your physician's instructions to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. One daily administration is normally recommended to the area surrounding lighter patches of skin to blend them into the surrounding areas. Your individual directions will be determined by your age, weight, current health, and the severity of your symptoms. To administer the medicine rinse and dry the area to remove any dirt or loose skin, apply a small amount of cream, and gently massage it into the skin. You are suggested to wear latex gloves when applying the cream to prevent it from discoloring your palms or hands. Thoroughly wash your hands after each use to prevent the cream from contacting any mucous membranes or areas of skin not being treated. Ask your pharmacist or physician any questions you have about the medicine to ensure the correct application.
