What is Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime) used for?

Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime) is an oral medication prescribed to treat and prevent parasite infections that commonly affect dogs including ticks, heartworms, or intestinal parasites. The medication operates by distributing itself throughout the body and bloodstream to paralyze and kill any parasites that attempt to feed on the dog. This allows them to be washed from the skin or passed out through the digestive system. Regular use of this medication can also prevent further infestations from occurring.

How should I use Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime)?

Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime) should be prescribed according to the instructions of the veterinarian. The correct dosage will be determined by your dog's weight and health condition and should be administered once each month. Dogs weighing 4.6-9kg should take the 4.5mg tablet while dogs weighing between 9.1-18kg should take the 9.3mg tablet. These should be administered orally and are chewable making administration easier. Ask your veterinarian any questions you have about the medication to prevent any unnecessary complications.

What are the side effects of Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime)?

Although it is normally well tolerated by most dogs, some taking Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime) may experience side effects such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Drowsiness
  • Reduced appetite
  • Mild indigestion
  • Vomiting

Contact the veterinarian as soon as possible if any serious or worrying side effects occur such as severe diarrhea, intense vomiting, tremors, loss of appetite, seizures, or signs of an allergic reaction such as hives, severe skin rashes, swelling, or difficulty breathing. These conditions may require reduced dosages, frequency of administration, or immediate medical attention in serious cases to prevent further complications from occurring.

Please Note

Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime) is only meant to be administered to dogs and should not be used to treat other animals including cats. Do not begin using this medication if your dog is allergic to any of its contents or has had a bad reaction to similar treatments in the past. Always bring your dog in for a medical check before using the medication to ensure it does not have any chronic health conditions that may cause unexpected health problems during treatment.

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by the veterinarian while using Panoramis (Spinosad/Milbemycin Oxime). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the dog and the condition being treated.

As this medication may be unsafe for certain dogs, it is essential you always inform the veterinarian if your dog is pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as if it has any allergies, other illnesses, or ongoing health conditions, and if it is taking any other form of medication, supplements, or herbal products.

Immediately seek emergency medical care if your dog has an allergic or hypersensitive reaction. Common signs of a reaction include hives, swelling, skin rashes, chest pains, as well as trouble breathing or swallowing.
