What is Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) used for?

Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) is an inhalable corticosteroid used to treat patients who are suffering from asthma. The medication reduces inflammation and swelling in the respiratory tract to prevent symptoms associated with this condition such as chest tightness, coughing, or wheezing. Your physician may prescribe it for other unlisted purposes, as well.

How should I use Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate)?

Always use Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) according to the instructions provided by your physician to get the most effective results from treatment. One dose is normally given one to three times each day, but your particular instructions will depend on your health condition and the severity of your symptoms. To use the inhaler remove the cap, put your lips securely around the mouthpiece, and inhale deeply while pressing down on the canister to release one spray. If you have not used the inhaler for more than one week it may be necessary to prime it by pointing it away from your face and pressing the canister until one spray is released. Ask your pharmacist or physician any questions you have about using the medication to ensure the correct application.

What are the side effects of Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate)?

The use of Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate) may cause side effects in some patients such as:

  • Headaches

More serious side effects that may require emergency medical attention are rashes, muscle weakness, nausea, vomiting, signs of an infection, blurry vision, trouble breathing, or deterioration of your asthma symptoms. Please Note

Inform your physician if you have diabetes or tuberculosis before beginning the use of Flixotide Inhaler (Fluticasone Propionate). These conditions may cause unexpected problems during treatment requiring adjustments to your dosage.
