What is Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate) used for?

Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate) is used to help reduce and treat the symptoms of manic depressive disorder (bipolar disorder). Lithium is believed to alter the way in which certain nerve cells respond to some of the chemicals which pass messages between them. It can also affect the concentration of chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin. This drug can help to decrease the occurrence and intensity of manic episodes. It is also effective in treating symptoms of manic depressive disorder, such as agitation, a high mood with overactivity, aggressive behavior as well as other symptoms.

How should I use Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate)?

Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate) is normally taken two to four times each day at a dosage of one tablet, but your individual schedule will be based on the severity of your symptoms. Swallow the doses with a large glass of water after eating a meal to reduce the chances of nausea. Do not change the form of the medication by splitting, crushing, or chewing the tablets to prevent destroying or altering the effects of their contents. Note that it may take two to three weeks of application before you begin to see the effects of your treatment. Ask your pharmacist or physician any questions you have about the medication to ensure the correct administration.

What are the side effects of Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate)?

Immediately inform your physician if any symptoms worry you or if more serious side effects appear such as stiff joints, severe tremors, dizziness, faintness, flu symptoms, extreme thirst, or signs of lithium toxicity such as tinnitus, diarrhea, or sudden loss of coordination. Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Lithicarb FC (Lithium Carbonate). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.
